Texas Curriculum Matrix Summary

TAKS/End-of-Course High, Medium, Low Designations

Priority Determinations: The Texas Assessment of Knowledge and Skills (TAKS) was used to determine the information needed for priority designations.  Blueprints for Reading, grades 3-8, Grade 9 Reading, Writing, grades 4 and 7, and Grades 10 and 11 Exit Level English Language Arts were referenced in determining high, medium and low designations.  In mathematics, the blueprint for Grades 3-8 mathematics, and grades 9-11 mathematics were referenced.  In Science, the TAKS Information Booklets for grades 5, 10, and 11 were referenced.

English Language Arts

In English language arts, the high, medium, a low designation was determined by the number of items tested under each objective as shown on the blueprints.  The higher the number of items tested, the higher a designation was given.

Mathematics

The high, medium and low designation on the mathematics was determined by the number of items tested under each objective as shown on the blueprints.  The higher the number of items tested, the higher a designation was given.

Science

In Science, Grades 5, 10, and 11, the TAKS Information Booklets were used.  A high designation was given if the TAKS objective(s) aligned to the Student Expectation.  A low designation was given if the TAKS Objective did not match a Student Expectation.  There were no medium designations given.
