Language Arts and Mathematics: Grades 3,5,8,11
Science: Grades 4, 7,10,12
Social Studies: Grades 3,6,9,12
Arts & Humanities: Grades 3,5,8,12
Health/Safety/PE: Grades 3,6,9,12

There are up to 3 levels for the standards: Level 1 - Academic Standard; Level 2 - Goal; Level 3 ( LA and SS only) - Objective.

State Assessment: 
Language Arts- Grades 5,6,8,9,11  and Mathematics- Grades 5,8,11 The annual Pennsylvania System of School Assessment (PSSA) is a standards based criterion-referenced assessment used to measure a student’s attainment of the academic standards while also determining the degree to which school programs enable students to attain proficiency of the standards. Every Pennsylvania student in 5th, 8th and 11th grade is assessed in reading and math, and students in grades 6, 9 and 11 are assessed in writing.

 Pennsylvania Curriculum Matrix Summary - PSSA High, Medium, Low Designations

Reading

 The following High, Medium or Low designations were given, by grade, if the standard aligned to:

 Grade 5:    12 or more items/points = High, 1 to 11 = Medium, 0 = Low

Grade 8:    16 or more items/points = High, 1 to 15 = Medium, 0 = Low

Grade 10:  16 or more items/points = High, 1 to 15 = Medium, 0 = Low

 The analysis also identified those standards or benchmarks that are (non assessable) on the state assessment.

Writing

 All the writing standards were given a High designation, with the exception of 1.5 Quality of Writing, G. Present and/or defend written work for publication when appropriate, for which a Low designation was given.

Mathematics

 The following High, Medium or Low designations were given, by grade, if the distribution of points was:

 Grade 5:   9 or higher = High, 1 to 8 = Medium, 0 = Low

Grade 8:   6 or higher = High, 1 to 5 = Medium, 0 = Low

Grade 11: 6 or higher = High, 1 to 5 = Medium, 0 = Low

 The analysis also identified standard 2.5 Mathematical Problem Solving and Communications to be a High designation in all grades.
