Language Arts:             
GLTP (Reading/Language)- Grades 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8
GLTP (Writing) – Grades 4, 7
NRT – Grades 5, 8

FLE – English II (graduation requirement – will be phased out) 

Mathematics: 
MCT - Grades 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8
NRT – Grades 5, 8

FLE – Algebra I (graduation requirement – will be phased out)
 

Science:   
FLE – Biology I (graduation requirement – will be phased out)

Social Studies:  
FLE – U.S. History from 1877 (graduation requirement – will be phased out)

NOTE:   On September 15, 2000, the State Board of Education approved SBE Policy IHF-1, a change to graduation requirements.  The policy revision will impact students who began the 9th grade in school year 1999-2000 or later.  Academic end-of-course tests (SATP) will be phased in during the 2001-2002 school year to replace the Functional Literacy Exam (FLE) as a requirement for graduation.  The subject area tests, Algebra I, Biology I, English II, and US History from 1877 to the present.

 Mississippi Curriculum Matrix Summary -    GLTP/SATP High, Medium, Low Designations

English Language Arts

 CRT (Grades 2 to 8)

 A High, Medium, or Low designation was given, by grade, on how the benchmark/item aligned to the Reporting Category. The Mississippi State Development Team determined:

 2 or more benchmarks/items matched = High, 1 = Medium, 0 = Low

 TerraNova (Grades 2, 4, 8)

 A High designation was given if the TerraNova activity/objective aligned to a Mississippi competency/objective.

 English II

A High designation was given to competencies 1, 5 and 9.  These competencies are identified as assessed in writing and language conventions.  A Medium designation was given to competencies 2, 3, 4, 6, 7, 8.    The Mississippi State Development Team further reviewed each competency and objective for state level assessment (working in groups, speaking, etc.).  

Mathematics

 A High, Medium, or Low designation was given, by grade, if the benchmark/item aligned to the Reporting Category:

 Grade 2:   6 or more benchmarks/items = High, 1 to 5 = Medium, 0 = Low

Grade 4:   5 or more benchmarks/items = High, 1 to 4 = Medium, 0 = Low

Grade 8:   7 or more benchmarks/items = High, 1 to 6 = Medium, 0 = Low

 TerraNova (Grades 2 to 9)

 A High designation was given if the TerraNova activity/objective aligned to a Mississippi compentency/objective.

 Algebra I

A High, Medium, or Low designation was given if the Assessment Strand aligned to:

 10 or more assessment items = High, 1 to 9 assessment items = Medium, 0 = Low

Biology I

 A High, Medium, or Low designation was given if the Assessment Strand aligned to:

 12 or more assessment items = High, 1 to 11 assessment items = Medium, 0 = Low
