Kansas standards have 3 levels:  Level 1: Standard; Level 2: Benchmark; Level 3: Indicator

 Kansas Curriculum Matrix Summary:  KAP High, Medium, Low Designations 

Reading 

 If the indicator was identified on the assessment, it was given a High designation.  If the indicator was not identified on the assessment, it was given a Low designation.

 Writing

 If the indicator was recommended for state assessment, it was given a High designation.  If the indicator was recommended for local assessment, it was given a Low designation.

Mathematics

 If the indicator was identified on the assessment, it was given a High designation.  If the indicator was not identified on the assessment, it was given a Low designation.

Science

The Kansas Curriculum Standards for Science Education, Adopted, February 14, 2001 identified the standards to be assessed by the state assessment.  A High designation was given if the indicators was identified as being assessed on the state assessment.  A Low designation was given to the indicator if the indicator was identified as being tested at the local or district level.  There were no Medium designations given.
