Curriculum Matrix Standards Illinois has standards for Early Elementary (1-3); Late Elementary (4-5); Middle/Junior High (6-8); Early High School (9-10) and Late High School (11-12).

These standards display for each grade level in Language Arts, Math, Science and Social Studies.

There are 3 levels: Level 1: State Goal  Level 2: Learning Standard  Level 3: Performance Descriptor

 Illinois Curriculum Matrix Summary:  ISAT & PSAE High, Medium, Low Designations

ISAT Reading

 The following High, Medium or Low designations were given, by grade, if the standard aligned to:

Grade 3:   23 or more sample test questions = High, 1 to 22 = Medium, 0 = Low

Grade 5:   25 or more sample test questions = High, 1 to 24 = Medium, 0 = Low

Grade 8:   25 or more sample test questions = High, 1 to 24 = Medium, 0 = Low

PSAE  Reading (11th Grade)

 If a Standard aligned to 44  or more sample test questions, it was given a High designation.  If the Standard aligned to 1- 43 sample test questions, it was given a Medium designation.  A Low designation was given to Standards that did not align to any sample test question.

ISAT Mathematics

 The following High, Medium or Low designations were given, by grade, if the standard aligned to:

Grade 3:   12 or more sample test questions = High, 1 to 11 = Medium, 0 = Low

Grade 5:   15 or more sample test questions = High, 1 to 14 = Medium, 0 = Low

Grade 8:   10 or more sample test questions = High, 1 to 9 = Medium, 0 = Low

 PSAE Mathematics (11th Grade)

 If a Standard aligned to 12 or more sample test questions, it was given a High designation.  If the Standard aligned to 1- 11 sample test questions, it was given a Medium designation.  A Low designation was given to Standards that did not align to any sample test question.

ISAT Science

 The following High, Medium or Low designations were given, by grade, if the standard aligned to:

 Grade 4 and 7:   4 or more sample test questions = High, 1 to 3 = Medium, 0  = Low

 PSAE Science (11th Grade)

 If a Standard aligned to 8 or more sample test questions, it was given a High designation.  If the Standard aligned to 1- 7 sample test questions, it was given a Medium designation.  A Low designation was given to Standards that did not align to any sample test question.
