Welcome to Educator Central. This section of the Career and Technical Education Center is designed to meet the specific needs of educators. While Career and Technical Education is normally considered a grade 9 though 12 subject, it is also incumbent upon elementary and middle school teachers to meet the many state subject standards that speak to learning about careers in different fields.

The Educator Central section contains the following:

Applied Academics   Three initiatives--Applied Academics, Contextual Learning, and Tech Prep (Technical Preparation)--impact middle and high school curriculum. All three encompass change in the  integration of curriculum and skill acquisition for the student. All three are addressed in this section.

Best Practices  This section features pedagogy, linking to standards and highlighting model Career and Technical programs.

Classroom Tools  Here you'll find examples of student work, assessments, teaching guides, and other tools to assist in the Career and Technical classroom. Exemplary lessons are also included.

For Administrators  Career and Technical Directors, school principals, and other CTE leaders will find useful resources to help them meet the challenges of their jobs in this section.

It's the Law  Career and Technical Education has its roots in what was once called vocational education. Those roots run deep in federal funding and legal issues. Everything from the Carl D. Perkins Vocational Act to No Child Left Behind affects these programs. Administrators, as well as classroom teachers, need to be aware of the legal requirements from their funding sources.

Organizations  This is a useful list of national and state organizations and associations for Career and Technical Education professionals.

Professional Development  There are many workshops, college courses, and online professional development opportunities out there for the Career Tech educator. Here are some starting points.
